Fan Coil Unit (FCU)
A terminal HVAC unit that uses a fan and coil to condition air in individual spaces or zones.
Full Definition
A Fan Coil Unit (FCU) is a terminal HVAC device that contains a fan and a heating/cooling coil. It conditions air for individual rooms or zones by drawing in room air, passing it over the coil (which is supplied with hot or chilled water), and discharging the conditioned air back into the space. FCUs can be mounted vertically, horizontally, or in ceiling spaces. They provide localized temperature control and are common in hotels, offices, and multi-zone buildings.
