Panelboard

An electrical distribution panel that houses circuit breakers and distributes power to building circuits.

Full Definition

A Panelboard (also called an electrical panel or distribution board) is an assembly of bus bars, circuit breakers, and protective devices that distributes electrical power from a main service to branch circuits throughout a building. Panelboards organize electrical distribution, provide overcurrent protection, and enable circuit control. They are located in electrical rooms, mechanical rooms, and throughout buildings.
